Val Gardena seems to be out of reach, but being in South Tyrol right in the heart of the Dolomites makes it easily accessible.

Worldwide, 199 scenic areas are on the UNESCO List of Natural World Heritage Sites. In Italy, the Dolomites are the second area of this type, joining the Aeolian Islands, which were added to the list in 2000.

In winter a fairy-tale scenery in white and during the Summer, a unique variety of nature's beauty.  In every season, the world of the Dolomites demonstrates its particular charm in an impressive beauty. The towns of Ortisei, S. Cristina and Selva Gardena (in all only 6 miles distance) not only offer beautiful nature, but also a wide variety of art and culture. Ortisei 1236 m, S. Cristina 1428 m and Selva Gardena 1563 m, is situated at a height of 1200 to 1700 meters above sea level. The alpine meadows and ski pistes rise up to 2518 m and the mountain peaks up to 3181 m.
Val Gardena is an international renowned region of ski and hiking sports. It is a holiday area for the active and athletic guest and a paradise for the nature lover, throughout the year.

By car:
Val Gardena can be reached using the Brenner Motorway (A 22).
Coming from the north, follow the route Innsbruck - Brennero - Chiusa. Coming from the south, follow Verona - Trento - Bolzano. Take the Chiusa/Val Gardena exit. Following the well-marked roads, you should reach Ortisei in about 20 minutes, then S. Cristina and Selva Gardena. 
At the end of the valley, you come to the Dolomite pass ways. They are only a few minutes away. You do not need a car to get around in Val Gardena. The lifts depart directly from the individual towns and there is also a very convenient bus service. Many guests arrive in the valley by train, plane or coach.

By private bus (coach)
Should you be arriving by private bus in Val Gardena it is very important that you book in advance a parking place at your hotel and also for purposes of transfer to and parking at the various events during the Olympiad itself (Opening Ceremony, evening events, etc).

By train:
From Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Belgium there are good IC and EC connections, stopping in Munich, Innsbruck, Brennero to Bressanone or Bolzano. 
Some trains stop in Chiusa. A bus service transports you from Bressanone and Bolzano almost every hour to Val Gardena. Some hotels arrange a pick-up service for you. 

By plane:
The nearest airports are in Bolzano, Innsbruck, Verona, Munich, Bergamo and Milan.

The nearest specially equipped camping places (approx. 20 km) are in Colfosco, Canazei, Chiusa/Klausen and Fiè allo Sciliar/Völs.
